BATTLE SYSTEM
Combat occurs when two character experience a dispute between one another. When they cannot settle their differences by talking it out, it’s time for battle! The main purpose for many skills and spells are specific to battling so it is not uncommon to see individuals engaged in combat during a role play, whether it is against monsters or against each other! Keep in mind that, while battles are fun, you must perform them against a willing opponent who has the right to leave the area and deny your challenge against them.
It also is within your rights to request a staff member’s assistance while in combat if you think the opponent is doing something unfair. The staff will judge these issues case by case and will provide the participants and at the end will provide advice of what not to do in the future. This is in hopes that the combatants may continue their battle peaceably if that makes sense. However, a battle may be ended by a staff member if they see that it has gotten too out of hand.
ATTACKS • A player may possess a variety of attacks within their Attributes. However, while it would be nice to use all those attacks per post, a character needs to be practical in how they approach combat. A player should only attack up to three times at maximum to give their enemy a chance to react. Please use your own cognition and be practical. It’s not about winning, it’s about writing.
When you attack, do not mention the attack making contact with your opponent. This is greatly frowned upon as it is an attempt to take away the character’s chance to dodge. Keep in mind that they may still attempt to dodge whether you say you hit them or not so it is better to leave the attack open and the character can accept to take the hit or not.
DODGES • A dodge happens when a participant attempts to evade an oncoming attack. This is certainly allowed, however, it is important to note the ridiculousness of a player being capable dodging multiple attack within one post or a single dodge. Realistically, a player should only dodge attacks up to twice per post. Even then , they should not be able to dodge an attack every turn. Again, it’s not about winning, it’s about writing and you will get more out of the experience if you are more realistic so try your best, but know your character’s limits.
WEAPONS • Armaments are used throughout the .hack series, thus they are available in combat here on FRACTAL. A player may add a weapon to their character and use it while role playing. However, just like skils and spells, performance should be implanted with discretion and just because one has a huge bladed-weapon does not make them any better than their enemy, who may not only have a staff or daggers. Realistically, since characters in this RPG possess skills and spells, weapons may not give anyone a disadvantage or advantage in anyway; even water may be as sharp as a blade when used aggressively.
DEATH • The only circumstance where you may kill another character is when the player of that character has agreed to the terms. You may also kill-off NPCs and Monster that are controlled by you or the staff.
Players who's PvP is disabled cannot be killed or even attacked by other players under any circumstances as this is usually a clear indication that the player doesn't want to fight and would rather explore and face the obstacles of Fields.
