Kai had only been playing for a few short days now but he was already enthralled by everything in this game. From the amazing graphics, the interactive game play, and especially those adorable little Grunties.
However, Grunties were FREAKING expensive so he hadn't been able to buy one as of yet. The Blademaster had almost literally jumped with joy when he heard that they were giving away Grunties! Just giving them away!
Kai was off to pick one up almost as soon as he finished reading that message. Once he had logged in, it had taken him little time to find the Grunty Ranch. After all, his first day in The World, he had managed to memorize everything in Mac Anu.
Once at the ranch, Kai took a look around. The quality of this game still amazed him. After a bit more sight seeing, he finally went to the barn and found Farmer Grunt. "Excuse me sir? I heard that you were giving out Grunties and I was wondering if I could get one? He said, using a polite and proper tone despite the fact this was just an NPC. Even if this character was just a bit of data, Kai saw no reason to be impolite.

He had already given away so many Baby Grunties to good caretakers and was happy to see that more were on the way, namely a very polite Blade Master.
"Sir?! That's my dad's name sonny!" "Yup, yup you 'eard right my boy! Free Grunties, but only take one...Some high level Player Killer came in and took five, but you seem like a nice enough fellah!" The NPC laughed wholeheartedly and directed her towards the stables where about ten baby Grunties were snug quietly together in a fenced area.
"Well, here lady. Take your pick!" He presented the babies with a grin. The Grunties before Ara were of all different colors; yellow, red, green, blue. Nearly all of them were common colors. No rare Grunties like Gold or Silver were in sight. Regardless of color, there was no denying that they were all adorable! Kai was a little surprised by how realistic the NPC was. The AI in this game was amazing! Kai was starting to love this game more and more every time he logged on. A Player Killer had come by and took five? That didn't sit well with Kai but he let it go.
The Blademaster took a look at all the Grunties before him. There were many different colors and they were all stupidly cute. Kai didn't feel odd at all gushing over how cute something was. His character looked enough like a girl, so he obviously didn't care how masculine people saw him as.
He scanned over each color until his eyes fell on a small black Grunty. He knew instantly that this was the Grunty for him. "I'll take that one. If it's alright." He said as he walked over and picked up the black Grunty. He smiled at the small pig-like creature. It was just so adorable!

That's a great choice" The NPC exclaimed automatically. He picked up the little, Blue Grunty and placed it gently in Kai's arms. "Now be very calm and gentle with'em. At this age these guys get real spooked easily and you'll have to carry'em when he's out of his stable. Remember, feed him Grunty Mints as soon as you can! The sooner ya feed'em, the faster he'll grow and then you can ride the little guy as an adult, but he's got some time!" The large farmer laughed.
"Thought up a name for'em? How 'bout Blackey or Black Baby?" Farmer Grunt brought up some very unoriginal names, almost like he had a name generator integrated into his AI to name off titles that were related to the situation. Kai was more than happy with his choice. The little black Grunty was perfect! The Blademaster looked over at the farmer and couldn't help but find the NPC's words entertaining. He was being told to take care of it like any other pet. Kai understood the responsibilities of taking care of a pet. He had two dogs living with him in real life.
He however couldn't help but sign slightly at the names the NPC suggested. He obviously had a list of programmed names. None of them good mind you. They were what a young child might name a pet cause they didn't know how to come up with creative names.
Kai's expression became thoughtful for a moment. After a bit he smiled and looked down at the Grunty in his arms. "I'll name you Hayate." It was the name of one of his dogs who was also black so it seemed fitting. He then looked back towards the farmer. Kai gave a a respectful bow. "Thank you for the Grunty." As he noted before, no reason to be impolite just because the farmer was an NPC.
