Δ GREAT PHOENIX MARCH Players that Gate into this field are introduced to a breathtaking cliff-side view of a large monastery that was carved and built from the cinnabar-rich mountain that surrounds its base. A cool, dry breeze rolls through the cordilleras periodically, while pale amber sunlight penetrates through the blanket of thick clouds and soaks the immediate landscape. There are a wide cluster of shade sources nearby, for those with sensitive skin.
Lore has it that the monastery was once the home to a sect of monks devoted to the worship of the mythical Phoenix, a bird of fire that could reincarnate itself from the ashes of its own funeral pyre. The monks were widely known for their studies in the arts of magic, and hoped that their research would bring them closer to the object of their worship.
The inner sanctums of the monastery remain curiously untouched, despite centuries of aggressive neglect: artifacts and monuments show no sign of dust collection or decay, the colors on upholstery and decorum remain rich and vibrant, and the scent of incense still mysteriously lingers in the hallways.
A slew of Vak- and Gan-Elemental monsters have since taken up residence inside the monastery, praying for unsuspecting travelers to stumble inside. Grand Mages in particular seem attracted to the lingering magical energies inside, and can be seen congregating in small groups of two to three.
Rumors began circulating around the message boards saying that a treasure can be found in the monastery's largest chamber, located in the lowest portion of the entire complex. Players will know they've found their reward as soon as they catch a glimpse of a massive Phoenix statue, painted an awe-inspiring spectrum of wonderful colors and adorned with polished gemstones.

One could certainly call what she was about to embark upon an adventure. She had met with a player called Masamune with Mac Anu, and after having laughed at his trying to get the controls right, she and he had gated to a field called Great Phoenix March. It sounded like an intimidating name, true, but at least it was better than her previous field. That one would have almost surely generated ghosts and, uh, she was kind of afraid of them; who couldn't be afraid of ghosts!?
They could just pop out of nowhere, right in front of you and at any moment; brr...it was really creepy, especially since The World was so real and lifelike, at least for an MMORPG. As soon as she gated into the field, Ara saw a massive monastery, built right into a mountain, and she couldn't help but just stand there for a few moments before realizing it was possible Masamune would gate right into the spot she was occupying. It was to that end that she moved to the side a little bit, and she continued to admire the monastery. From what she could see, it was the only real landmark in the area, and as such, she reasoned that it was what their destination was. This area itself was pretty too, though she knew that was a trick; the place was probably filled to the brim with enemies, though she couldn't exactly see them right at that very moment.
"So pretty...wonder if he learned how to get here good enough." Ara commented to herself, glancing back at the area she had gated into the field from; surely Masamune would be showing up soon enough, right?[/style] [STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 36px; color: #131A67; margin-left: 15px;]How very curious[/style][STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 32px; color: #131A67; margin-left: 42px; margin-top: -15px;][/style] [STYLE=margin-left: 20px; margin-top: -15px; color: #000000; font-size: 11px;] LEVEL/GUILD: 02/None TAGS: Masamune NOTES: Hooray! <3 WORD COUNT: Uncaring CREDITS: Made by daydreamer95 of BTN [/style] [STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 36px; color: #131A67; margin-right: 15px; margin-top: -15px; text-align: right;][/style][STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 32px; color: #131A67; margin-right: 42px; margin-top: -15px; text-align: right;][/style]

The loading icon at the bottom right-hand side of Masamune's display blinked three times in rapid succession, indicating that the Area Load was in the final stages of realizing the Field he and Ara were about to touch down in. A few milliseconds of buffering, and the black and green screen had lifted from his field of vision, revealing a mountainous landscape dappled in golden sunlight. Masamune's eyes grew wide like tea saucers, astonished by how fast the transition between this place and Mac Anu was. It was as if though the Chaos Gate had teleported their characters here while they were waiting out the loading screen. For such a fantasy-themed game, it was all beginning to feel more and more lifelike as time rolled by. Filled to the brim with curiosity, the Adept Rogue in red turned toward the side of the cliff he had manifested on, immediately introduced to the grand image of a monastery, built right into the mountain. The huge building glimmered white and gold in the sun, indicating that whatever materials it was made out of were beyond valuable; they were priceless. And whatever was inside must be worth more than that. "This is way too intense," Masamune whistled, impressed by all that he'd seen in such a short time frame. If this was merely the exploration part of it, combat in The World could only be better. It just had to be! He cranked his head to the left, immediately directing his eyes toward Ara as soon as he picked up on that unmistakeable green hair of hers. "Hey, Ara. Can you spot an entrance inside that building?" he asked eagerly, turning to face the monastery below, genuflecting as he do so. "There has to be some valuable stuff in there. I can almost guarantee it."[/style] [STYLE=background-color: #000000; align: right; width: 100px; padding: 2px; opacity: 0.6; margin-bottom: 5px; font-family: tahoma; font-size: 9px; color: #FFFFFF; float: left; margin-left: 25px;]Words: 338[/style][STYLE=background-color: #000000; align: right; width: 275px; padding: 2px; opacity: 0.6; margin-bottom: 5px; font-family: tahoma; font-size: 9px; color: #FFFFFF; float: right; margin-right: 25px;]Notes: Area theme. :3[/style] [/style]

She wasn't really sure that was the right word to describe this place; beautiful, majestic, but intense? No, that didn't fit at all; then again, that was just her opinion, and she wasn't going to share it. She let her eyes examine the citadel that was there, trying to find some way to get in; obviously, that had to be their destination. It didn't look like there was anything else to go towards in the immediate area, after all. She wasn't an expert, she could be wrong, but it was her best guess, and really, her only guess; where ELSE would they go? There wasn't really anywhere else to go, from what she could see; she glanced to Masamune as he asked a question of her.
"Don'tcha think you'd be better suited for looking for a way in? You're taller, so you'd be able to see the entrance more easily," Ara pointed out, a smile on her face. Still, even as she said this she let her eyes examine the citadel some more. "You know, I read something on the message boards about this place once," she commented as she let her eyes roam about the citadel. For a moment, she glanced at him before returning her gaze to the citadel. "People on the boards say there's some kind of treasure deep inside this place. Of course, that's to be expected; every field has treasure at the end. Still, it's supposed to be like, rare or something," Ara said before she began to move forward. Then she realized she had neglected to tell him. "I saw an entrance, by the way." was what she said to him before continuing on, a cheery expression on her face.

[style=background-image: url(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g237/Nami_Elementallist/3esdsbgr.png); width: 450px; border-top: 8px solid #000000; border-bottom: 8px solid #000000; padding: 10px;] [style=width: 380px; height: 300px; border: 4px solid #; background: #000000; align: center; font-family: tahoma; font-size: 9px; text-align: justify; opacity: 0.6; color: #FFFFFF; padding: 10px; margin-top: 0px; overflow: auto] Masamune pursed his lips into a half-smile while Ara joked about his height, teasing him by saying he was far better suited for seeking out hard-to-find entrances. Though her statement was contradictory to a degree, seeing as the monastery was slightly below them, the Adept Rogue couldn't help but want to take advantage of the quip. "Well, guess I better get to it, then!" he coughed out a wisecrack of his own before raising to the tips of his toes, looking down at the citadel with a goofy, wide-eyed expression while he teetered from side to side like a metronome set at too fast a beat, his hand raised to his brow to shield his vision from the glaring sun. Of course, a few seconds of this was all that was needed, so he stopped his charade as soon as he got it out of his system. Whether or not his antics could make the Wavemaster girl laugh was up for debate; keeping in mind that [ The World ] is an MMORPG, there was a pretty solid chance that Ara may be some creepy, forty-year-old virgin living in his mom's basement, sitting in a beanbag chair, naked, eating Cheetos. Who knows if people like that found his type of humor funny? Deceiving as appearances could be, Masamune did a fantastic job at keeping his friendly atmosphere maintained. It was his nature to be nice to people, anyway, so long as they were nice back. The scary part was was that he could easily change attitudes with just one, misplaced insult or comment. But, that is the Golden Rule, after all: treat others the way you wish to be treated. Ara eventually said something about a rumor being circulated round the message forums, causing the white-haired Adept Rogue to break his attention away from the citadel below and fix it on her. "Every field has Treasure?" he parroted to nobody in particular, tilting his head to the side whilst he his finger and thumb toward his chin, positioned under it in a traditional thinking pose. The prospect of treasure existing in all the Fields seemed to take away the individuality from each of them, but if that's the way [ The World ] works, who was he to complain? She chirped again, saying she found the entrance to the temple. He didn't even need Ara's help to find it himself, having spotted it near what looked like a bridge made of stone as soon as she mentioned doing such herself. The walkway itself looked stable enough, yet common sense in these types of fantasy games, and even movies, would have told you that it would probably crumble beneath their feet, had they made it past the halfway point. "I see it, too. Come on, let's go find us some rare treasure," Masamune approved wholeheartedly, pumping a fist at his side before he moved his PC toward a nearby slope, which led down toward the bridge of stone. Treasure definitely was one of the pluses in an RPG. You never knew what you'd get by popping the lid on one of those iconic boxes, always in the dark on your rewards. Would it be large sums of money? Maybe a set of powerful weapons and armor? Or, it could be a trap, and a slew of monsters would spring out! Wild and fun thoughts began stirring around fond video-gaming memories inside Masamune's head. A smile lit his face up as he strode down the hill. This game was definitely living up to its promises. Well, not exactly the same; Ara was just wondering who he really was in real life. He could be one of those creepy guys who lived in their mom's basement their entire lives and didn't really do anything; she shuddered, knowing she would never just stay in her mom's basement for her whole life.
She wanted to get out there and see the world, no matter how scary and big it seemed at times; everything seemed scary and big at first. Even The World had seemed like that at first, to her. She remembered her first adventure, having gone into some field with a girl and another Wavemaster; the girl had been very rude, probably not unlike the male that had offered to help Masamune.
What was his name again? Thrym? Or something like that?
She wasn't sure, and she realized that was because she was having fun; who cared about negative things if there were good things to outweigh it? She certainly didn't. Anyway, her first adventure had been in a dungeon where the water level constantly rose, and she had been afraid that if they actually drowned there, they might drown in real life, which, as she realized now, was silly. Besides that, even if it were true, CC Corp. probably wouldn't want the entire world to know about it, right?
"Heh, you're funny. Not as funny as myself of course, but still funny," Ara commented with a giggle, watching him. No, this guy was certainly not one of those odd people who just stayed in their mom's basement; for one thing, his humor was way too good for him to be someone like that.
And he was also way, way too nice; she always imagined people who stayed in their mom's basements were rather...socially inept people, people who wouldn't be able to socialize well even in something like an MMORPG, where face to face contact was not necessary. "And yeah, every field has treasure. I know, I know, it might take away some of the uniqueness, every field having treasure, but if it didn't have treasure, what would be the point of going through it? Besides that, a lot of the treasures themselves are really unique," Ara commented, and then soon enough, he commented that he had found the entrance too.
Well hmph, she had found it first!
Of course, that was just her childish coming into play; he had probably found it first due to his height, even if the citadel was below them. It still gave him an advantage, as he could see entrances more easily from where he was. Also before long, they were moving towards the entrance, and she glanced towards him as they walked. "Saaay...you wouldn't happen to be one of those weird guys who live in their mom's basement their entire life, right?" she questioned of him, even if it might be a bit rude; she was still young, and didn't know what people might consider rude and not rude.
Besides that, it was better to be safe than sorry, right?
Who knew what he might be thinking if he WAS one of those people, even though he totally wasn't. She was just asking him to make sure he wasn't. Right. And it wasn't because she was unsure in any way, shape, or form. At all.[/style] [STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 36px; color: #131A67; margin-left: 15px;]How very curious[/style][STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 32px; color: #131A67; margin-left: 42px; margin-top: -15px;][/style] [STYLE=margin-left: 20px; margin-top: -15px; color: #000000; font-size: 11px;] LEVEL/GUILD: 03/None TAGS: Masamune NOTES: Irony. How did this topic degenerate into whether or not they were middle-aged basement-dwellers so quickly? Not willing to risk premature brain damage trying to process such a twisted conversion, the Adept Rogue glanced back down at the Wavemaster with shock and concern. "No, of course not!" he exclaimed, the pitch in his voice at a midpoint between calm but adamant. "I'm a bartender; I live on my own, too." Further details were omitted from his answer, but his words were one-hundred percent the truth. And it was enough truth to give Ara some insight on who he really was—the person behind the heroic face. He mentally paused, then glanced back down at Ara. "Wait, why are you asking me whether or not I live in my mom's basement? What if you do, yourself?" The Wavemaster girl would have had no right to complain about being asked such a ludicrous question herself; she did it first. It was up to her to answer if she wanted to, but it would be moot. The duo of adventurers would finally wind up toward the bridge of stone, which stretched its way to the entrance of the massive monastery before them, now rising above their diminutive sizes and toward the heavens like a relic of the gods. As they say, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. It was just a simple, innocent question, and his voice had to change in pitch for some reason as eh answered it; that caused her to examine him with more suspicion than what was warranted to him right then. She knew it wasn't really fair to be so suspicious of people, but the Internet was a really dangerous place, she knew that.
And she especially knew that MMORPGs were very dangerous places; it was easy to be lured into something if you were having fun and games in an MMORPG while being roped into that something. "A bartender huh?" Ara questioned as they arrived at the bridge of stone. And then he had to ask the same question of her, which caused her to laugh out loud. Her? A middle aged man living in his mother's basement?
Bah, please.
"Don't be silly! Do you really think this innocent lil' face could be a creepy guy sitting in his basement somewhere?" Ara questioned, turning around to face Masamune and point to her face for emphasis, a pleasant grin still on her face from the hilarity Masamune's question had caused towards her. "I'm thirteen, and I'm a student, thank you very much. Hmph, middle aged man indeed," she grumbled.
Sure, it was kind of unfair for her to grumble about it since she had asked first, but such was the logic of kids. They ask a question, and then get upset when that question is just turned right back towards them, even if they deserve to get asked the same question. "Anyway...let's continue onward! Must be lots of treasure in a citadel like this, huh?" Ara queried as she walked onto the bridge, not afraid of it falling; this was an MMORPG, not real life, after all.[/style] [STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 36px; color: #131A67; margin-left: 15px;]How very curious[/style][STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 32px; color: #131A67; margin-left: 42px; margin-top: -15px;][/style] [STYLE=margin-left: 20px; margin-top: -15px; color: #000000; font-size: 11px;] LEVEL/GUILD: 03/None TAGS: Masamune NOTES: Hilarity ensues WORD COUNT: 319 CREDITS: Made by daydreamer95 of BTN [/style] [STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 36px; color: #131A67; margin-right: 15px; margin-top: -15px; text-align: right;][/style][STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 32px; color: #131A67; margin-right: 42px; margin-top: -15px; text-align: right;][/style]

Ara rebuffed, claiming her PC was too adorable to mask an identity as loathsome as a basement-dwelling loser's. Her alibi — she was thirteen and a student in school — seemed solid enough, yet her still-suspicious disposition toward Masamune didn't alleviate the gravity of the question. Apparently it wasn't worth talking about anymore, since she chose to redirect her attention to treasure and the possibility of the monastery before the two players holding any. Masamune watched as Ara bravely traversed her way onto the stone bridge, which seemed quite brittle on its underside. One wrong step, and she could have been sure to plummet to her virtual death. The way she carried herself across the platform illustrated her lack of fear, which also indicated that she either knew the odds of falling were zero, or her mere youth was protecting her fragile little mind. It still would have never hurt to be a tiny bit cautious, though. The Adept Rogue opted not to think into it too much, considering she just tried to pry into his own personal life, and moved to close the growing gap between each other. He glanced toward the bridge itself, darting his eyes left and right as if he were measuring the width of the bridge. Which he was, mind you; it seemed fairly wide enough to support multiple people, maybe three or four. "Sooo, what kind of treasure do you think is in there?" Masamune asked Ara, practically tossing a random question into the air. He wasn't exactly having the best of luck making friends with this girl, nosy as she was, but at least it beat getting dissed and degraded by that Hideo guy. It's surprisingly well done, IMO.[/style] [/style]

How would she be able to know what kind of treasure was in the field? Besides that, it would be kind of silly to ruin the surprise of what you were going to get; even if she did know, she wouldn't tell him because, obviously, that would ruin the surprise. Ah well...at this point, she was just worried about getting inside and figuring out what kind of enemies she might face. She wondered if The World had quests that could just occur randomly in dungeons. Like saving a damsel in distress! Masamune could be the hero and save the damsel, while she could be the supporting star, the sidekick!
Yes, that would be a great and wonderful adventure. Still, even if The World didn't have such things, it would be nice to traipse through the dungeon fighting all the monsters. Yes, very fun. She glanced to Masamune. "Dunno...hopefully rare items. Rare items are awesome!" Ara exclaimed, a gleam in her eye. She would never admit it to anyone, oh no, but she wanted all the rare items in The World. A monumental goal, to be sure, but she was going to search through the message board, listen to what other players had to say, to seek out all the treasures.
Of course, not all the rare items would be easy to find, and those who wanted all the rare items would have to be pioneers and find out how to get them first. Ara was going to be famous! She was so excited she could hardly wait. "Wonder what kind of enemies we'll fight...not the elements and stuff, just what they'll look like...let's get going already!" Ara was moving quickly now, running towards the entrance. A smile was on her face as she stepped inside of the massive building.[/style] [STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 36px; color: #131A67; margin-left: 15px;]How very curious[/style][STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 32px; color: #131A67; margin-left: 42px; margin-top: -15px;][/style] [STYLE=margin-left: 20px; margin-top: -15px; color: #000000; font-size: 11px;] LEVEL/GUILD: 03/None TAGS: Masamune NOTES: I think you make the info for the monsters and stuff. o-o WORD COUNT: Uncaring CREDITS: Made by daydreamer95 of BTN [/style] [STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 36px; color: #131A67; margin-right: 15px; margin-top: -15px; text-align: right;][/style][STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 32px; color: #131A67; margin-right: 42px; margin-top: -15px; text-align: right;][/style]
