OPHELIA IF VISION IS THE VALIDATION THEN MOST OF MY LIFE ISN’T REAL  TWENTY || FEMALE || HETEROSEXUAL || BLADEMASTER || GUILDLESS Alicia – the girl behind the pc – has always been a very timid, soft spoken, and mothering girl on the inside but as the girl went through life in school she found herself putting on a act in front of her fellow friends and classmates. Instead of being the girl she was Alicia began to act sarcastic, rebellious, and overall uncaring to those around her. At first those acts came during meeting new people only but before long the character Alicia wasn’t took over her real personality and people began to see her acts of shyness and mothering as fake when in reality it was how she really was. Getting tired of putting on the fake act daily Alicia purchased a game called The World after reading consumer and company reviews. As the game loaded Alicia promised and planned that here, in the reality of this game, she’d be her true self – and thus Ophelia was born. But as they say ‘old habits die hard’ and Alicia’s fake personality began to take over Ophelia as well.
At first Ophelia can seem rather stand offish with her sarcastic and negative comments her mouth seems to spit out subconsciously but if one were to spend more time with her in a personal one-on-one situation they’d find she’s less confident and cynical then she puts off. Deep down Ophelia is a kind-hearted, protective, and loyal girl who would do anything for someone close to her.
I can see Ophelia getting a few enemies with that mouth of hers. Her outer personality is rather rude, brutally honest, and extremely stubborn which makes her a prime candidate for getting under peoples skin. At first Ophelia will deny a fight and not just jump in head on just because she’s upset or words were exchanged. If someone wanted to get her into a fight the other person would have to be the persistent one and either mess with her continuously or do something that would set her off 100% at the start.
This section wouldn’t be hard to pull off in Ophelia’s case; there would be cases where she’d start to crush on someone on the inside while her mouth is telling them to get away from her or that they’re annoying due to stubbornness of admitting any sort of feelings. Of course starting an actual relationship with Ophelia would take some time and even though her outer personality makes her seem confident and independent she wouldn’t be the one to start the whole love-ship.
Everyone should just go wild with all of this since the ‘others’ section in plotting is the funniest part. Throw anything at me, I’ll most likely say yes to it no matter what it is. I’m mean to my character so… that should give everyone the green light to think of the meanest things to do to my character. :U

As you requested, I have some thoughts about plots. Things in common are many! Both twenty, both female, both using blades. I see that OPHELIA is guild-less too. Do you think she might not always have someone readily available to dungeon crawl with? Does she like dungeon crawls and monster bashing?
MURMUR is a very goal-oriented player with a lot of drive. What about OPHELIA? Would they share common motivations?
She's also pretty easy to get along with for sarcastic or aloof players because she's focused on the task at hand. When Murmur mouths off it tends to be dry. Almost long-suffering as if she is the stoic one in the comedy act.
The only thing that might cause tension is that MURMUR doesn't like to be coddled or given anything the easy way. She might mistake those hidden glimpses of mothering and kindness as coddling her. But that would also lead to awkward, endearing moments, and character development either way really.
Does OPHELIA like girly items? Because MURMUR would just give her anything that was too girly. These are my initial thoughts!

Ophelia is pretty noobish when it comes to her friend listing. I don’t see her having many people to call upon for dungeon runs and training in the field, so it’d be really cool to have murmur as one of the few people who would go with her to the field to do some team work training and since murmur is goal-oriented I don’t think she’d deny getting stronger in level right? Inside Ophelia wouldn’t be concerned with levels but to prove she is strong and that her bark isn’t worse then her bite she’d want to level up too, so if murmur felt the same way they’d share that common motivation.

Ophelia is a nice girl but her outer personality makes her seem a bit rude, uncaring, and just over all sarcastic to knew people so her mothering and kindness would only come out after a long time of spending time together and becoming friends (so pretty much to the point where Ophelia feels as if she can be herself with murmur).
And Ophelia does~ She’ll say she doesn’t but if murmur were to give her something girly Ophelia would accept it, with some sarcastic answer while she does so. oh how she tries to be all badass but it doesn’t work…

honestly, like.. ophelia would get on orchid's nerves.
from what i can tell, orchid is basically very similar to ophelia, only bitchier, nastier, and with more power (via her pking guild, demise in hindsight, which she leads). orchid isn't really all that nice on the inside, unlike ophelia (though she's capable of compassion). the main difference between the two of them is that orchid is just as bad as she is to other people as she is on the inside. she's just a terrible bitch. i've probably used the word 'bitch' in almost every plot post i've made involving her, so.. yeah. xD
i think orchid would not want to be bothered with ophelia's mouth because she doesn't like being disrespected. if ophelia started getting rude and whatnot to her, orchid would probably just [attempt to] pk her on the spot because orchid has a pretty bad temper.
not only that, but orchid would be able to read into the fact that ophelia isn't actually as "big and bad" as she likes to seem -- mainly because orchid knows first hand just how those kinds of people really are. and she would probably play mind games with her and ultimately attack her self-confidence -- an area that ophelia's lacking in.
ultimately orchid would deem ophelia a big brat (funny because irl orchid's a year younger) and would honestly just not like her at all and would torture her whenever she could.
so, yeah. ~o~ fun.

It sounds like this common ground is definitely one to explore between our characters as well. MURMUR is all about getting stronger as a player character. But her reason for being a strong, high level character is so that she can unlock the world and explore it. Kind of for that invincible feeling that 'I can go anywhere and do anything.' And Ophelia does~ She’ll say she doesn’t but if murmur were to give her something girly Ophelia would accept it, with some sarcastic answer while she does so. oh how she tries to be all badass but it doesn’t work…Which would be a Kodak moment I think. I'm in Mac Anu right now in VII's open thread. And I hope to remember the ropes (as a viewer and player of .hack from 5 years ago, I'm very rusty!) enough to get MURMUR started on some field work in a thread or two. Perhaps we can meet up out there in a future field post? I will also be posting on the bulletin board recruiting parties for dungeon crawls and you're always welcome jump in on those. |

Alrighty, we already talked about this but I'd like to post just to cement things. c:
Thrym is going to be a constant thorn in her side, trolling and being generally annoying until she snaps/runs away. And then he'll be nice/help her/not PK her until she believes he's not going to troll again, and then BAM EPIC TROLLING. Thrym will be amused and Ophelia can plot her revengeeee.
(And trust me I'm up for some super fun revengey things in case she ever feels like hurting Thrym.) |
