INFO. and we're marching oon Luckily for Ara, this particular door actually seemed to not be booby-trapped; with a tug of the chain handle, the door raised upward, inviting the group to continue on. The dungeon was still being filled with water, but now it was much lower than the team's current position and they had nothing to fear at the moment. What lied before them were stairs in a narrow passageway.

[STYLE=margin: 70px 30px 30px 30px; text-align: justify; color: #c4c4c4;font-size: 10px;] her eyes blinking out of curiosity, orchid gave a sly glance in the direction of the nearby door after it had clearly opened. she hadn't really been trying to get it open; she was waiting on the two wavemasters to catch up with her. closing the book that she had just recently pried from the worn shelves in front of her, she replaced it where she found it and advanced towards the new opening. gazing upwards at the stairs, orchid nodded.
"well -- here we are. it seems to be the only way to go." she stated, taking the opportunity to give a final observing look at the area around her, just to be sure that her statement was completely correct. it seemed so; she did not spot any other entrances or exits. there were just the elevated stairs that lead them to the platform they stood on, and the stairwell ahead of them. orchid was ready to continue on -- she was extremely annoyed by her companions, but was an effective leader before anything else. she knew how to toss her feelings aside of the sake of the "mission," of sorts.
"the two of you need to spend less time whining and more time trying to keep up with me. let's go." she hissed at the two behind her, very matter-of-factually. she commanded her words and through them out at her temporary team like bricks -- as though they were absolute fact and nothing else. her aggressive tone demanded respect and it also urged her teammates to take a look at themselves, rather than complaining about every misfortune. orchid just thought -- knew, rather -- that they needed to get over it. that was her best advice for them, because she was the most capable leader and was not going to change anything about herself. they didn't like it? too bad.
she proceeded up the stairs immediately after her statement, as it was up to the two of them whether they could hang with her or not.

Gabriel jerked his hand away as the gate opened. Okay, so it wasn't a puzzle, and it supposedly wasn't trapped. Was it a warning? It seemed very strange for something so simple to be placed in such an obvious place, but maybe the boy was being a bit overcritical about the entire situation. Sometimes it was a shame: he focused on one thing and found things that didn't exist, that had never intended to exist and never would. If only he could direct some of the energy to noticing other things around him. Some people were good at it, but he had never really considered being good at it; it was probably a result of his desire to remain quite invisible. Giving attention to another person would have been unspoken grounds for entry into his personal life, he had decided a long time ago.
Gabriel balled up one of his fists when Orchid opened her mouth. She was practically conditioning him, associating her voice with pain and frustration and irritation. Was this an example of the bulk of the players of The World? If so, the wavemaster would reconsider continuing this game later. For now, he had decided to help the group; and once he decided on something, he tried to stick to it through the end.
"If she doesn't shut up. . . ." he muttered when Ara was within earshot. Orchid would have been well away by now, considering she had rushed past them again, so it was highly unlikely that she could possibly have heard him. Gripping his staff instead of balling his fist, he began a steady rise up the stairs. The water behind them wasn't rising too rapidly, and the fact that the group had no idea what lay in store for them had slipped his mind when the gate had opened and the longarm had advanced. That had admittedly been pushed to the back burner. Unless something came up behind him and Ara, Gabriel would be prepared for whatever happened. He hoped.

Probably a lot. Now, understand ordinarily was not a violent person by any means, but Orchid was not treating them with any respect at all, nor was she really giving them any reason to continue helping her. Ara was sad to say she was half-tempted to just push Orchid down the stairs or something so she could drown in the water. Ara had decided, by then, that surely the water wouldn't cause you to drown in real life if you drowned in it in The World; that was just a silly thought she had had.
Right...a silly thought; she glanced back to the stairs they had taken; the water level wasn't all that high on this level yet, but she knew it would eventually get high. Back to Orchid, didn't that girl realize it was because of Ara that they were even able to progress forward? No, she didn't realize that, because her head was far too inflated for her own good; telling her that, however, would only serve to slow them down and possibly get all of them caught in the water. "I know what you mean...she's very, very frustrating." Ara commented back to Gabriel as she ascended the stairs as well, knowing Orchid wouldn't have been able to hear them; the PM feature in The World was rather nifty, wasn't it?
She was able to compose messages very, very fast, and not have herself heard by anyone that wasn't the person she was sending it to. She was a bit suspicious of what lay ahead of them, but then again, who wouldn't be suspicious when the previous "puzzle" had been so stupidly easy?[/style] [STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 36px; color: #131A67; margin-left: 15px;]How very curious[/style][STYLE=font-family: AR DECODE; font-size: 32px; color: #131A67; margin-left: 42px; margin-top: -15px;][/style] [STYLE=margin-left: 20px; margin-top: -15px; color: #000000; font-size: 11px;] LEVEL/GUILD: 02/None TAGS: Orchid, Gabriel NOTES: Phew, it wasn't trapped. PROGRESS It seemed that with each step the team took, they were greeted with an unsettling noise. It sounded as though there were a storm outside, or hammer was smashing into stone, or something equally disturbing. As they proceeded upward, the noise only got louder. Soon they would have reached an intersection, each side having stairs that all continued to move upward. The choices available:
A ) Proceed straight ahead, up the stairs. B ) Proceed to the left, up the stairs. C ) Proceed to the right, up the stairs. D ) Turn around?

[STYLE=margin: 70px 30px 30px 30px; text-align: justify; color: #c4c4c4;font-size: 10px;] it was a bit of a relief, not having to worry about water drowning away one's oxygen, or a dense fog suffocating and blinding those unlucky enough to have gotten caught in it. these few steps that orchid and her party members had taken up the stairs -- thanks to that as well as the fact that they had simply stopped talking (something that she especially appreciated) -- had made this brief section of their journey extremely relaxing. orchid had realized the worth of silence, and peace. of course, she was aware that it wouldn't last very long.
soon it was time to think, again. stairwells were now on every side of the group -- what to do? being that the last door was not a trap, this section of the dungeon had to be some kind of rigged puzzle, right? that thought in mind, orchid turned to face gabriel and ara. she didn't much have a choice, and neither did they. they were going to have to listen to her. and stop being little babies. ugh. she hated dealing with brats.
"mm. instead of debating about which way we should all go, we should each just pick a separate stairwell to climb up. surely, only one of them is the right way. the other two are probably dead ends or trapped or something." she nodded. though, she wasn't completely sure that her temporary teammates were keen on following her every command. she expected them to have a rebuttal. hopefully theirs would be opinions that made sense, and not something stemmed from their collectively overwhelming sense of an unreasonable quality.
"do you agree? if so, i'll pick the direction that neither of you pick." she added, leaving the rest of this situation up to the two of them, at least for the moment. she couldn't be bothered. [/style] | template by pianissimo of btn and ote |

It seemed as though Gabriel had already found an ally in this expansive place known as The World, but it could very likely have been a simple facade given the current circumstances. Hopefully not.
The next area had presented them with a new challenger altogether, and the wavemaster was temporarily fixated on looking at each staircase and weighing his options. None of them seemed particularly suspicious compared to the map itself, but there could easily have been a detail missing. When Orchid addressed them, she was relatively level-headed and fair about her approach. She even asked if the two of them agreed! Had she been possessed by some sort of dungeon ghost when he and Ara weren't looking? Hm. . . .
"Is splitting up such a good idea?" he asked earnestly, leaning against his staff and avoiding eye contact with the longarm. "This place gives me the creeps. There's something about it that makes me really nervous. There's no telling what's waiting around the corner." Maybe he was a little scared in general, but he didn't want to be ambushed, alone, and die while his teammates are off leveling up and getting treasure. That was hardly fair, was it? Maybe if he were a higher level -- which, unfortunately, he was not.

Whoa whoa whoa, that was a huge shock; the woman they were with had an actual idea of what they should do, and it wasn't too outrageous? Ara had to say she was surprised at that; she had been expecting Orchid to say something stupid like "let's all go the same way" or something like that.
Or something even more ridiculous, like Orchid going by herself and the two Wavemasters going with each other, leaving the third way unexplored. No, splitting up was the most time effective way to go about this, especially considering the rising water. True, it was not that high at all, but if they dawdled, who knew what might happen? Besides, what if it suddenly started to pour in at a more rapid pace? Ara certainly did not want to be stuck here like that. But then Gabriel had to say something, and she had to say, she frowned a bit at him.
"Is there any other way to go about this, Gabe? I mean, if we take too long exploring, the water level will reach us sooner than if we split up. And if Orchid went by herself and we went together...I, to be honest, don't like the odds of us surviving. Splitting up is the best way to go, in my opinion." of course, her opinion might not be respected that much.
